Team Cherry has been working hard in the background on Hollow Knight: Silksong tweaks and updates. All the details of Silksong’s first major Update are out now, and we’ve got details on the biggest changes and the complete patch notes.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is an unbelievable game and was worth the wait. It’s garnered excellent reviews and the community loves it too—take the words of the five million players in Silksong’s first three days. But not everything is perfect, which is why Team Cherry has been embracing feedback and working on fixes.
Silksong’s first major update is a big one for many reasons, so let’s get into it.
When is Hollow Knight: Silksong Update 1 Coming Out?

Team Cherry has confirmed that the first Silksong update is coming out the week of Monday, September 15, and could be any day until Sunday, September 21—unless there’s a last-minute delay.
The developer discussed the first details about Update 1 on September 9. In its post, the developer said: “Barring any unforseen issues, we’re aiming to deliver the patch to all players mid next week.”
Again, unless there’s a delay, we expect the full update to launch between September 15 and September 22.
Hollow Knight: Silksong First Update Biggest Changes
Silksong’s first update adjusts the difficulty level of certain bosses, Wishes that cannot be completed, and how many Rosary Beads can be earned in specific scenarios.
Bosses
The change that demands everyone’s attention is the adjustment to boss difficulty. Silksong devs are nerfing early-game bosses, including Moorwing and Sister Splinter. Both have been notable complaints on Reddit and other forms of social media, with the Sister Splinter fight proving to be a nuisance with its endless thorns and respawning mobs.
Rosary Beads
Team Cherry is offering a “Slight increase in rosary rewards from relics and psalm cylinders” and also an “Increase in rosary rewards for courier deliveries.” We’ll never complain about getting more Rosary Beads in Silksong, as they are a rare and hard-to-come-by commodity.
Wishes
You have many Wishes to complete throughout Silksong. This is quite difficult to achieve when the Wishes are outright broken and unbeatable. Beast in the Bells and Infestation Operation are two examples of quests being fixed. If you’ve had trouble with any side missions, the update might see to this.

Thanks to the Team Cherry Steam post for delivering the patch 1 details.
It feels like major areas of the game are already being improved. It remains to be seen if more bosses are adjusted as time goes on. Are there any you’re hoping are tweaked? Or is there another change Team Cherry has sorely overlooked? Let us know in the comments and via the Insider Gaming forum.
