Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded Revealed as Meta Quest 3 Exclusive

In a new trailer, Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded was revealed as being a Meta Quest 3-exclusive title, dropping this summer and being dubbed an ‘unparalleled, untethered, and unrivalled VR experience.’ It has been pieced together by XR Games, a UK-based studio that has worked on the likes of Zombie Army VR and Jurassic World Aftermath.

However, fans of the franchise were quick to criticise the announcement, as shown in the comments section under the freshly posted trailer. There are widespread issues with the PC version of Hitman 3 VR that gamers have been reporting for some time, and the consensus is that Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded should have also been ported to PSVR2.

Becoming 47

Following the release of the new trailer for Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded, pre-orders for the game went live with a limited-time discount of 10% on the listed price. According to XR Games, several key improvements have been made to Hitman 3 VR to warrant this ‘Reloaded’ tag:

  • Introduction of dual-wielding
  • Fresh cel-shaded art style
  • Overhauled UI
  • Improved movement mechanics
  • Visual enhancements
  • Refined gameplay mechanics

Since being released a few years back, the original VR version of Hitman 3 has been plagued with a series of issues. Despite that, the game was nominated for awards – and won VR Game of the Year at the Steam Awards in 2022. Online, there’s a whole different sentiment surrounding the game, and the review rating on Steam currently sits at ‘Mostly Negative’.

Here’s the trailer for the new Reloaded version of the game:

The hope would have been that the Reloaded edition could have placated the masses, but now that it has been locked to Meta Quest 3, more consumers than ever are feeling pushed out of the circle.
