Helldivers 2 has reached 400,000 concurrent players on Steam, and with that comes a decision by Arrowhead Game Studios to temporarily cap the max amount of players.
In a post on the game’s official Discord, the studio said that, while it continues to work to increasing the game’s capacity for players, it has to put a limit on the number of players that can be in the game at once.
“Our team is working around the clock to solve these issues,” Arrowhead said. “While we’ve been able to mitigate some of the causes, we are still struggling to keep up with the scaling that is needed to accommodate all our Helldivers.
“Therefore we’ve had to cap our concurrent players to around 450,000 to further improve server stability. We will continue to work with our partners to get the ceiling raised. If you have progression related issues, please restart the game in order for things to sync back up. Thank you for your continued patience.”
An update on the state of the servers should be expected some time on Monday.
As of publishing, Helldivers 2 sits at a max of 409,367 concurrent players, putting it above Grand Theft Auto V and well into the Top 25-played Steam games ever.
