When Gears of War: E-Day was announced back in June, many fans wondered if it would be a console exclusive to Xbox or if a PlayStation release would also happen. Fast-forward a month later and a job posting is hinting at a possible release on Sony’s platform.
The Coalition is looking for a senior online client engineer to work on Gears of War: E-Day. This position, according to the post, will “help build the multiplayer and online experience” of the game, including “in-game economies and commerce, session management, player statistics, user generated content, and matchmaking”.
As part of the preferred qualifications for the job, the listing mentions prior experience working with online platforms such as Xbox Live, Steam, and, yes, the PlayStation Network (PSN).
While having experience with PSN doesn’t necessarily confirm that a PlayStation launch of the game is guaranteed, it’s interesting enough that it was specifically mentioned. We know the game is certain for Xbox and Steam, which is why it makes sense to see it in the listing.

Interesting…there was no need to mention PSN, if the game was never going to PlayStation.
So if someone very qualified for the job with only PlayStation experience, how is that person going to know if he/she can apply for the job,..I’m sure the coalition needs people with experience in online networking, gears 5 was released years ago, I’m sure some employees left for other studios, game developers leave all the time specially during the down years , I imagine all developers below management in any studio get their salaries reduced during down time.
They’re just looking for someone with experience with online gaming. It doesn’t mean they will be coding the game for PSN.
Sounds like they are asking for anyone with any experience with online gaming. “Experience with Xbox Live, PSN, Steam or other online gaming platforms.”
It’s common sense to include the PlayStation network experience for the job listing, so anyone can apply for the position, some people will only have experience in one of the listed networks , even tho all the online network have different functions and reliability, the foundations are the same, peter more ,the one of previous head of Xbox moved to manage a soccer team for example,..I don’t see any new gears game on PlayStation, Microsoft might release the original gears of war remastered on PlayStation just to attract players to the Xbox ecosystem for the new game..the remastered version of the original gears of war released on Xbox one.
When your product is lacking, you want to know how the competition does it better, that’s all it is. Xbox knows PlayStation does it better, they want to try and figure that out. Wow, Xbox Live isn’t the King of Online Services anymore (hasn’t been since the Xbox 360 era)
