In less than a full day since the announcement of the delisting of Forza Horizon 4, the gaming community has exhibited unprecedented enthusiasm, with players eagerly lining up to dive into the game. Within mere hours of the announcement, Forza Horizon 4 achieved a new all-time player peak record on Steam; learn more below.
Spotted on SteamDB, as soon as the news of Forza Horizon 4 getting delisted surfaced online, players instantly started hopping on to the game, probably to get as much out of the digital copy before the game is eventually removed. Intriguingly, the number of players that have arrived in the past 2 hours has broken Forza Horizon 4’s all-time player peak record set in 2021. At the time of writing, the game’s new all-time peak was set around 2 hours ago, with 48,437 concurrent players, absolutely smashing the previous number of 40,399.
The surge in players clearly demonstrates the community’s love for the title. Not only are old players returning to the game, but new ones are trying it out before it disappears. Additionally, the fact that the game is offered at a whopping 80% discount on Steam helps their case, too. At the same time, it is worth noting that the game will still be accessible through physical copies. However, in today’s digital gaming era, the sudden disappearance of games raises questions about the best approach for game preservation.
