XDefiant budget seems like was 80+ mil

True but nowadays I feel Ubisoft has lost its gem and even if they try to recover, its going to take a lot of time. Which for Ubisoft there isn't.
I think they had it in Outlaws. The Expert system was innovative and a much more creative way to level up than the usual skill-tree stuff. The problem is that Outlaws was dealing with a cross-pollination of a very divided Star Wars fandom that just got off The Acolyte, Gamergaters, and people who really, really hate Ubisoft for both good and bad reasons. There was no way it was ever going to have a thunderous runaway reception. I said as much a few months ago and that it was going to average in the 70s on Metacritic. The Avatar game did too!

Not only they should have released XDefiant earlier since it was ready, but they should have released it on Steam too. Ubisoft needed to lose market value to actually start releasing games there.

I think Ubisoft have to change their image bc everytime I hear ubisoft I just avoid it.
Yeah, you're not wrong they do have an image problem. They've released too many mid games that are riddled with technical problems, they've recycled their formula with barely any changes over and over again, and their toxic work culture is widely known about.

They really need a string of killer releases that re-establish them as being a serious player. They started the year off right with Prince of Persia, but immediately tripped over their feet with Skull and Bones and well Star Wars is the prettiest looking mid-game I've played in a while.

It's a shame, but 200 mil for a F2P shooter when you don't have brand recognition to pull in easy numbers is a hard sell.
Yeah, especially considering what the game was. Played in the alpha, and it was okay at best, but nothing spectacular. I did like all the cool Sega references, and music you could extract tho.

like how... i played this boring, lack-of-awareness game and didn't care after a few hours. i was like there COD why play this? Then they had an opportunity to make it unique and play as characters we like from Ubi .. nope let's put the lesser-known characters... like why .. we could of have sam fisher, Vaas Montenegro, Altaïr or Aiden Pearce.... i just don't get .. if your going to put out a free-to-play shovelware at least be different ...
