10 maps for all the development resources thrown in sounds dissapointing, was hoping more for about. But picking up downed players to revive them is something I REALLY hope happens along with the Caliber based destruction.

With the size of the maps they build, I'm not too upset about just 10. If they were COD size, sure.
I mean we used to have 18 maps with 1942 on launch and then BF2 having 12 maps on launch (which where pretty big at the time) and since they're having a way more stable development cycle than 2042 with the player count back to 64p... I was hopeing they could up it a bit. Also makes me nervous that we may see the big content gaps that hurt BFV & 2042.

10 maps at launch isn't too bad, I expect they will follow a similar pattern as BF1 and release more over time, and BF1's DLCs had some amazing maps

I'll take popcorn to watch the competition between Grand Theft Auto 6, Call of Duty Saturn and Battlefield 6🔥🔥🔥
I found out that the game is looking for a longer campaign than BFV, BF1 and so on as they're taking an approach to bring open arenas for fighting scenes and some futuristic kind of things in the next title.

To be frankly honest I didn't like a lot of the post-launch maps of BF1 (I wasn't even fan of the BF1 maps overall, the open but small design I really disliked and had some pretty awful ones like Caporetto). Honestly gameplay wise I overall didn't like BF1. Not hating on it for the sake of it.

Interesting, because from Lanky Soldier (who knows a few people apparently) a few months ago on a podcast IIRC when Letho was let off and Ridgeline shuttered that the campaign would be barebones because of hwo rushed it is. But said the BR looks very good and the MP was so and so.

DICE & EA needs BF to launch very well but wedged between GTA VI & CoD Saturn, they better keep any crazy commercial expectations in. They overreacted with BFV doing like a million below projections and led to the mess of 2042 by canning BFV & BFront 2 way too early (still salty of no Eastern Front and proper Naval Warfare in BFV). If BF2025 does better commercially than BFV by a million or two then that should be a success.

I don't actually know if Ridgeline's developed story is still the case or how they're going to continue the single-player mode of the game, however it's going to be a significant improve (and longer experience) than BFV.

I think most companies are planning to be clear from GTA6 launch date otherwise day 1 sells will be very low for them, even if it BF or COD

You mean Ubisoft and EA are potentially going to delay their games?
Not just them and not about delaying but yeah because I remember before the launch of RDR2 Activision in their earnings call told investors that they might see lower sells for BO4 bc of RDR2 launch, I believe the difference was about 10 days during both title's launch.

I've been watching everything I can about this new game and the consensus is Zampella has said all the right things. He's identified major issues with 2042 and what Battlefields strengths actually should be.

I've put in 2000+ hours into BF1 & V respectively. And what about 2042 you may ask? A whole 64 hours, spread across the alpha, beta and full release! That game was and is absolute garbage. I think Dice has taken so much shit for that it that they will really be focused on the next being a back-to-basics return to the known Battlefield formula. It would be an insane risk to experiment once again.

One interesting tidbit I heard was a Youtuber called Westie mentioning that some of the developers from pre-2042 have returned to the Dice. That's a positive sign in my opinion.

1942 didn't have near the detail of battlefield maps today, let alone the destructive aspects of them. So I would agree with the folks that 10 seems very reasonable.

Kinda hope they go back to dlc for new maps and weapons. Think battlepass should only be there for the Battle Royale title. Keep things apart from each other would be the best thing to do and deliver quality.

It probably takes the same amount of time to create one modern Battlefield map as it did to make 4-5 1942 maps. The level of detail in these frostbite era maps is just incomparable.

A more appropriate comparison would be 2042 itself. The game launched with 13 maps (6 portal maps by Ripple Effect + 7 AOW maps by DICE), and I honestly expected 13-14 maps at launch for the next Battlefield since there's 4 studios working on it. But if it's only DICE that is working on the multiplayer and the rest of the studios are doing their own thing, then it makes sense why we're back to 10 maps and 30-40 weapons

I know that Battlefield 2: Modern Combat wasn't a favorite for everyone (though I loved it), but I feel if they could go back to that smaller size, go back to having a campaign, go back to full destruction, and maybe make the maps larger for multiplayer purposes, or a combination of both. Some with planes/choppers, and smaller ones without.

It surely cannot be possible to make worse maps than those found in 2042? They were sparse to me, lacked richness and destruction. Wide open spaces and hollow buildings and rooms with little in them.

I hazard to say lessons will have been earned because I would suggest Dice knew they weren't good enough before launch and updated them with cover etc not long after.

I sure hope this is the case!
