Likely a big nothing. Some recent bad press which would undoubtedly take away from any TGS presentation planned (Japanese focused event after all!)

Gee, wonder why this racist game, that is super disrespectful to the Japanese, was pulled from the Tokyo show? Can't hide it forever ubislop! The Japanese youtubers I watch, have already pulled apart the miserable trailer, something egregious every 2 seconds! Crazy!

Just how is this game "super disrespectful" to the Japanese?

The majority of the blowback began with a complaint to the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology by Senator Hamata Satoshi of the far right Party to Protect the People from NHK. This is the same racist right winger who accused historian Dr. Thomas Lockley of writing "fake history" in his extremely well researched book on Yasuke. There is *zero* doubt Yasuke was a samurai who served Oda Nabunaga. Satoshi doesn't like that fact.

Furthermore, just how are the inaccuracies that have been identified any different than Valhalla's wooden churches from 12th century Norway appearing in 9th century Britain? It's a video game, and there will be minor inaccuracies. Response to the game in Japan has actually been positive. Video game consultant Kazuma Hashimoto stated many of the negative social media comments written in Japanese were clearly written by westerners and then "roughly" translated.

Wonder what's behind it. Of course there was some backlash about some things, but to cancel all of it? Or is the game in a bad state and thry need more time... was kinda looking forward to it

Game is way too far into development to be changing anything core now. The reason for the TGS pullout and cancelled previews could be a few things:
1. They were made aware of Yotei and decided to not go head to head (weak choice if they did, comparisons will be made regardless)
2. The recent controversy around the Pure Arts statue featuring a one-leg Torii gate used as a prop for Naoe to sit on has pissed off a lot of Japanese players (Not sure how that made it past their DEI teams. Cultural sensitivity is meant to be something that's on their radar)
3. The pre-order numbers are too low, the negative feedback is too overwhelming, or the game is in a sorry state. A delay will be coming and they're deciding when to announce it.

I think your number 3 could be it, due to the controversy. Not a chance with #1. Assassin's Creed has been a staple in gaming long before Ghost.

Ubi seems to be messing up quite a bit lately. Even their pirate ship game took a crap. They did announce that Shadows is PS5 Pro supported, so maybe it is ready?

I kind of wonder if Ghost of Yōtei would end up helping AC Shadows sales?

I would think there’s people out there with the mindset now of, hey I can’t wait for Ghost in 2025…oh well here’s a game that will scratch that itch in the meantime.

Dont think so, what could drive sales tho is GOT for the upcoming GOY
