The final update of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 lands today, with Epic Games preparing for the launch of a new season in a few weeks, resulting in the servers being unavailable.
Epic Games has settled into a regular schedule of updates in Fortnite, with a new patch every two weeks, and following the last update on May 14, a fresh period of downtime is taking place.
If you’re keen to know when the Fortnite servers will be available again, Insider Gaming has all the important details.
When Will Fortnite Servers Be Back Up?

Fortnite servers are down for several hours for the May 28 update, although the exact time they will return has not been confirmed by Epic Games.
Downtime is expected to commence at 4 AM ET, the standard time for periods of server unavailability to begin in Fortnite, and while the exact length of time the servers will be unavailable hasn’t been confirmed, previous experience provides an expected time frame.
Mid-season updates don’t tend to have the same lengthy downtime as seasonal transitions, unless the patch is bigger than usual or any problems arise, so the May 28 downtime is expected to last for around three to four hours.
As such, expect the Fortnite servers to be available again from around 7 AM/8 AM ET, though the best approach, as always, is to keep tabs on social media for the latest downtime updates.
What’s in The Fortnite May 28 Update?
The May 28 update in Fortnite is the final one of Chapter 7 Season 2, and could therefore provide the first leaks of what to expect when Chapter 7, Season 3 kicks off next month.
A live event for the end of the season has already been confirmed, which is set to be put in place in this update, so details on what players can expect from that are likely to surface. Additionally, more rewards distributed in the Fortnite Community Day this weekend could emerge.
New content is also on the horizon with the Epilogue period of Showdown, the main story that has been playing out this season, and while it doesn’t kick off immediately, the patch will reveal what to expect.
Finally, expect the same updates as usual to the Item Shop, revealing when fan-favorite skins will be making their return, and highlighting any future collabs that could be on the cards.
