A list of unreleased operators leaked by Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope includes a number of footballers in Modern Warfare 2 that Insider Gaming has been able to verify as legitimate. If the leak comes to fruition, it could mean that Activision plans on a football-related event for Modern Warfare 2.
The list of operators includes footballers Messi, Neymar, Reyes, and more, which Insider Gaming sources were able to find via the in-game files of Modern Warfare 2.
You can see the full list here:
- Aksel
- Connor
- Klaus
- Luna
- Messi
- Neymar
- Pogba
- Roze
- Reyes
- Gromsco
In-game file names are typically the first “official” way to determine if a leak or rumor is legitimate because the files have been added to the game. Although such file names do not guarantee footballs will be coming to Modern Warfare 2, it could be a part of a FIFA World Cup event in 2023.
It’s understood that Activision has “big plans” for Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2 will huge collaboration events. Earlier this year, Godzilla and King Kong made their way to Warzone and it’s believed that Activision and its developers will continue this trend moving forward.
Such collaborations have not yet been confirmed by Activision, but it’s assumed we’ll learn more about them in the future.
It’s unclear what role a list of footballers could have in Call of Duty, but the franchise has already shown that a “football” type game could easily be implemented.
Advanced Warfare’s Uplink gamemode was a lot of fun and such a mode could possibly be modified to fit a football game.
The FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place later this year.
Modern Warfare 2 will launch on October 28th, 2022 and Warzone 2 will launch on November 16th, 2022.
For more news, check out last week’s rumor that Advanced Warfare 2 could be launched in 2025 by Sledgehammer Games.
UPDATE – Images of both Pogba and Neymar in Modern Warfare 2 are now floating around the internet.
There are some embarrassing mistakes in this article.
Reyes is a footballer who died several years ago, I’m sure he is not in the game, but rather whoever has this name will just be a regular operator. Pogba, however, is a footballer.
The FIFA World Cup is not scheduled in 2023 but rather in November and December of this year. The Women’s World Cup is next year, but Messi, Neymar and Pogba will most definitely not feature in that one.
