A new cinematic trailer for the upcoming RPG Exodus starring Matthew McConaughey has been released by Archetype Entertainment.
The trailer for the sci-fi RPG gives features McConaughey as the narrator while revealing the game’s villains, the Mara-Yama. According to the the trailer description, the Mara-Yama are “the most terrifying enemy in the EXODUS universe”.
“These monstrous Celestials haunt the darkest corners of the cluster, hunting for isolated targets,” the trailer says. “And unfortunately for their victims, the Mara-Yama are interested in more than just stealing cargo.”
In an accompanying blog post, Archetype says that that Mara-Yama are “unlike anything humanity has ever faced”.
“The Mara-Yama feed on fear, delight in cruelty, and revel in the agony of their prey,” the studio said. “They aren’t just hunters – they are sadistic predators who savor every moment of psychological torment they inflict.”
Exodus was first announced at The Game Awards 2023. The game comes from the aforementioned Archetype Entertainment — a subsidiary of Wizards of the Coast — and his being led by Chad Robertson and James Ohlen, both formerly from BioWare.
As of writing, there’s still no release date for Exodus. There also hasn’t been any official gameplay shown for the game as everything revealed thus far has been artwork and cinematics.
