Battlestate Games has rolled out the update that adds the Expansions Hub to the game, opening it up for both PvP- and PvE-focused players. This addition includes the full functionality for TarCoins, the mysterious tokens added several weeks ago that finally have a purpose.
The Expansions Hub isn’t anything game-changing, but it does allow for people to take advantage of all the trappings of the Escape from Tarkov universe, such as the PvE mode, stash expansions, and exclusive cosmetics, without parting ways with real money… Kind of.
Tarkov’s Expansions Hub Has Everything You Want
The Escape from Tarkov Expansions Hub is the latest evolution to hit the spearhead extraction shooter platform. It’s a new digital storefront that allows users to purchase almost everything they’d typically buy using real money, such as stash expansions, new outfits, and access to the game’s PvE platform.
Now, players can use TarCoins in the storefront to get these items and functions.
TarCoins were added to Escape from Tarkov a few weeks ago, but it wasn’t until today that they had much use, beyond listing on the Flea Market for some sizeable gains.
The best thing about TarCoins is that you can find them in your raids, particularly behind high-tier locked doors. You can collect them, bring them out of your raid, and stack them up, so in theory, you can ‘buy things’ through the Expansions Hub without ever paying real money.
Of course, you can also buy TarCoins, and in the usual microtransaction fashion, the more you buy, the greater the discount applied to your purchase.

But what’s important is that this content is entirely optional. You’re not going to be at a disadvantage if you don’t use the Expansions Hub; it’s just there for those who do want to explore it.
