End of Ember has been described as “a maximalist roguelite”, where you are met with cuteness, gore, and unhinged stuff, and the trailer does showcase how gory it can get. The star of the show is Ember, who has made her way to hell after an accidental death on her birthday. However, things are looking up thanks to her unexpected friendship with a sentient chainsaw who is ready to wreak havoc on the demons of the underworld.
The game features twin-stick shooter controls that you master across randomly generated levels. It features a gore engine that can show you some really bloody sights along with classic horror references. The title is currently in alpha production and has been developed by a team of fewer than 5 people based in Adelaide, South Australia. A full beta demo is planned for the end of 2026, while the alpha is already available to try on Steam. Check out the features of the game below:

The Studio Behind End of Ember
End of Ember comes from the hands of Bad Plans Studios, who have one goal in mind: to develop gnarly games that would spark 80s horror vibes. The upcoming game will be the studio’s founding title, and their plan is to “build and nurture a community committed to the deep, life-affirming joy of playing and creating awesome video games.”
