FromSoftware has revealed that the first piece of DLC for Elden Ring will be arriving tomorrow, December 7th. While the game launched way back in February 2022, it isn’t uncommon for FromSoftware to leave a long pause before it announces (and releases) any expansion content for its games.
In a Tweet, FromSoftware announced that players will be able to ‘prove their worth’ in the free Colosseum update. The tweet went hand-in-hand with a one-minute trailer that promised all-new, intense PVP modes, as well as the ability to team up with friends and goes to fight tough opponents in an arena-style environment.
Enter The Colosseum
If there’s one thing Elden Ring does well, it’s superb, satisfying combat. At the heart of FromSoftware’s games is the ability to engage in some of the toughest fights in modern gaming, and it looks as though the free Colosseum update will be no different.
For some, the arrival of the Colosseum update was inevitable, as the locations themselves have been present in the world of Elden Ring since launch. There are several Colosseums scattered around the Lands Between, but since the game launched, they’ve been locked down and abandoned.
There are three Colosseums in total, and it’s assumed that all of them will open their doors to players one and all when the Colosseum update drops on December 7th.
FromSoftware took the time to explain (quite dramatically) what’s coming:
Come forth, warriors, and bask in the glory of the Colosseum. Prove your worth in various duels and battles, together or on your own in the free Colosseum update.

On the 8th of December, The Game Awards will take place, and it’s highly expected that Elden Ring will walk away with the Game of the Year award. There’s still plenty in store for the Elden Ring ecosystem, and the Colosseum update is the first step on the path for players.
Are you looking forward to the Elden Ring Colosseum DLC?
Trying to stay relevant to get that game of the year vote for the game awards.
Will this be cross platform compatible?
Problem with Elden Ring is that there is ZERO reason to doba 2nd playthrouhh. In the first playthrough you can get your stats to whatever you want, amass all of the items the game has to offer.
It shoukd have followed the same flow as Demon Souls.
