You’ll encounter several Elves throughout your journey in Dragon’s Dogma 2, and for the most part, they speak in obscure runes that you can’t understand. At least, not yet. There’s a way to speak Elvish in Dragon’s Dogma 2, which requires patience and timing.

How to Speak to Elves in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Unfortunately, there is no way for the player to speak Elvish in Dragon’s Dogma 2. However, if you have a Pawn in your party who speaks the language, they will automatically translate any dialogue or writing on your behalf.

To use this ability, walk up and speak with an Elf in the game. Instead of the standard runic language you saw previously, the Pawn now translates it into English. You can read the dialogue without issues, opening up plenty of doors to receive additional side quests, find resources, and trade with Elves.

Where to Find Pawns That Speak Elvish?

Sadly, not every Pawn in the game speaks Elvish. It would be quite a cool feature, say, as part of their time within the Rift, but it’s somewhat rare currently.

To find a Pawn who speaks Elvish, visit a Riftstone in major or minor settlements throughout the game, interact with the portal, and inspect the various Pawns that spawn. You can examine their abilities, class, and demeanor by walking up and speaking to each one.

Alternatively, you can find Pawns roaming the wilds of Dragon’s Dogma 2. When you speak with them, a box will appear on the left-hand side of the screen with all of the necessary information you desire before recruiting them. You’ll want to find one with the Woodland Wordsmith Specialization, which allows the Pawn to speak with Elves.
