Dragon’s Dogma 2 is getting its first major DLC expansion this October, with Dark Arisen adding an entirely new region for players to explore.
That said, fans were wondering just how much is being added with the expansion, and in a recent interview, answers have finally been provided: Dark Arisen will include over 25 hours of additional content, including new dungeons for the base game.
Dragon’s Dogma 2’s DLC Is Almost As Long As The Base Game
In a recent interview with Automaton, Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen’s director, Kento Kinoshita, and producer, Naoto Oyama, provided some more context and details for the upcoming DLC.
When asked about the length of the update, Oyama explained that the story takes players to a new snowy region, called Norgan. Here, it’s expected that the base adventure should take between 15 to 20 hours to complete, though that number begins to climb when you add on other new content.
That’s because 12 dungeons are also being added to the base game with Dark Arisen, with each one estimated to take roughly 30 minutes to an hour to complete. Add that to the new region, and there’s easily over 25 hours of content coming to Dragon’s Dogma 2.
That said, it’s recommended that you reach player level 40 before heading to Norgan, with previous Dragon’s Dogma DLCs offering quite a jump in difficulty. Kinoshita reassured fans that levelling up can be fast-tracked, and the new dungeons are accessible from level 20; grinding those can easily get you up to speed if you’re in a rush.
Elaborating on difficulty, Kinoshita notes that enemies won’t scale in strength to higher-levelled characters, though they are considering a “Hard Mode” for anyone who wants a more intense challenge.
For those who are new to the game, especially with the Switch 2 release happening at the same time, it’s an exciting time to get on board, with over 70 hours of content in this blockbuster RPG. Check out the trailer below:
