A new Double Dragon game is in development, and it’s bringing the series to 3D with Double Dragon Revive. This new game, first revealed in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu in Japan( h/t ryokutya), is being developed by the same studio that developed Dragon Ball FighterZ.
According to the reveal from the magazine, the game will feature classic characters from the series like Billy and Jimmy Lee, Roper, and Abobo. Along with the modern characters, the game will feature modern controls and design elements that will “faithfully reproduce the real thrill of the action” of the series.
According to the page grab below, the game will include various actions such as stealing enemy weapons to avoid the game from “becoming monotonous”.
It’s currently set to release in 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
The Double Dragon series first made its debut in 1987 in the arcade. Since its debut, the franchise has seen 25 various releases on different platforms. The last main-line game in the franchise, Double Dragon 4, launched in 2017 and kept the game’s classic style and 2D side-scrolling gameplay.
