I can’t believe this needs to be said, but no, you shouldn’t click that link to ‘download GTA 6 now (totally safe)’, unless you want to infect your device with all manner of malicious viruses and bouts of infectious malware.
Recently, users have taken to social media circles to reveal that hackers and nefarious operators are already out in the open, offering up promises to give unsuspecting users access to early builds of Grand Theft Auto 6. For some, it’s an instant click driven by the hope that maybe, just maybe, it’s legitimate.
Guess what? It never is.
It’s Almost 2024, Stop Falling For It
As recently showcased on Reddit, hackers are creating fake download packages that purport to be Grand Theft Auto 6 – mere days after the game was officially revealed by Rockstar Games. As per the comments on these posts, ‘Anyone who installs this deserves whatever computer herpes it gives them.’
That’s a fair statement.
This kind of thing is commonplace in the gaming industry (and the… hacking industry?), and it’ll only get worse over time. As the 2025 release window for GTA 6 draws closer, more malicious operators will take to social media platforms, torrent sites, and file-sharing platforms the world over, stressing that they’ve all got the latest build for GTA 6 for you to download RIGHT NOW.
We’ll see an increase in the number of fake gameplay videos, edited leaks, and fanmade trailers paraded as ‘the next GTA 6 trailer’. Don’t fall for any of it, I beg you. It’s almost 2024, and we’re a more intelligent community than that.
Right?
