CDPR has posted a message on social media teasing something related to Cyberpunk 2077 coming on September 4. The message is in the form of a notice issued by the N.U.S.A., the fictional government in Cyberpunk 2077’s universe. It speaks about a ‘mounting cybersecurity threat’ and invites ‘netrunners’ to battle against that rising danger.
Many theories have surfaced, and the leading belief is that CDPR is referring to cybersecurity-related job vacancies opening up in the near future. If that’s the case, why doesn’t the post link to any job listings, and why is it referencing a date three days in the future?
Is Something New Coming to Cyberpunk 2077?
In a post on social media, CDPR adopted the persona of President Rosalind Myers of The New United States of America. The message the team published seemed to be asking for netrunners (a fancy Cyberpunk term for hackers) to join the N.U.S.A. and help defend against ‘viciously determined’ threat actors.
The most curious thing about this post was the header, which mentioned a date: September 4, 2025.
It’s not clear if this was a) posted early, b) written in error, or c) teasing something being imminently revealed on Thursday.
In the comments under the post, Cyberpunk 2077 fans started sharing theories. Some users believe it’s something to do with the second season of Edgerunners, while others feel it’s something tied to Phantom Liberty, the first and only Cyberpunk 2077 expansion.
It could be something linked to Project Orion, the next Cyberpunk game. Again, it could just be a fancy post lining up the delivery of some job vacancies.
