Can You Rename Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2? – Answered

Shortly after the game’s prologue, you’re introduced to the Pawn system in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and tasked with creating your first one. This Pawn will remain with you throughout the game as your right hand, so you’ll want to take immense care during the creation process. It begs the question, can you rename Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Can You Rename Your Pawn in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

During the Pawn creation process, you can pick just about any name you want for your companion. However, you cannot rename Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Once you confirm their information during the character creation process, you cannot rename them.

The game does feature the ability to change your character by visiting the Barberie in Vernworth. There’s even a merchant in the Pawn Guild in the same city that can alter your Pawns using Rift Crystals to purchase consumable items. However, neither of these options works on your Pawn’s name.

As such, I recommend you genuinely think about your Pawn’s name; mull over the idea before you hit confirm!

How to Change Your Pawn’s Appearance

You can alter your Pawn’s appearance after the game starts by visiting the Pawn Guild in Vernworth. There, speak with the merchant on the left-hand side of the room. He sells a variety of consumable items in exchange for Rift Crystals. The one you want is the Art of Metamorphosis.

Once you’ve acquired the tome, visit the Barberie up the steps and down the road. It’s marked on your map with the scissors icon by the bridge heading northwest out of the city.

From there, speak with the woman, and you can alter your Pawn in many ways, including their appearance and voice, but not their name!
