I’m guilty of playing co-op games anti-socially. Sometimes, I don’t want to deal with a public lobby, or I can’t convince anyone to join me for the latest flavor of the month game. In such cases, I play solo and enjoy every second. Lately, I’ve been playing Helldivers 2 again, but everyone else has moved on. So, like many of you, I want to know whether you can play Helldivers 2 solo! Here’s the answer!
You Can Play Helldivers 2 Solo, Friends
You can absolutely play Helldivers 2 solo. However, you should know the game doesn’t scale depending on the number of players in a match, so you’ll still face hordes of bugs or bots as if you were playing in a full, four-man lobby. Depending on your chosen difficulty level, this can lead to some seriously challenging content and some of the most incredible gaming moments to date. They’re genuinely memorable!

Tips for Playing Helldivers 2 Solo
- You do not need to engage every roaming recon party that you encounter. Sometimes, it’s okay to skirt around the problem and beeline straight to your objective.
- Avoid hostile environmental events, like fire tornadoes, as if you’re caught up in one, no one will save you or cover your back.
- Some of the game’s enemies, like the Factory Striders, prove extremely challenging, so bring heavy weaponry to deal with exceptional challenges. I always recommend the Railgun or the EAT.
