A popular Destiny 2 streamer has apparently been banned from future Destiny 2 events by Bungie for allegedly leaking NDA’d content.
On April 14, Bungie took to the official Destiny 2 Team account in a statement, “Community interaction and engagement is central to Bungie and our games. For years, we’ve invited creators and other members of the community to confidential summits to provide feedback on the future of Destiny. This is a beloved part of the process, but relies heavily on trust.”
It continued, “Breaches of this trust could result in our inability to hold more summits. We take these breaches extremely seriously and are taking actions to reinforce our policies with those invited to these internal meetings.”
According to a new report by Forbes, Bungie has determined that a popular Destiny streamer was the culprit of the leaks, which he denies. Speaking with Forbes, the streamer, named @Ekuegan
said that Bungie told him that they “confirmed” he was the leaker by matching desktop icons from his own home screen – Which are frequently displayed on his own home screen during streams. The streamer apparently denied that the photos were from him and said that someone had “tacked his icons onto the photos”.
In addition to speaking with Forbes, Ekuegan also took to Twitter to maintain his innocence.
To say that someone would photoshop images to frame someone for leaking does sound bizarre, but giving Ekuegan the benefit of the doubt, stranger things have happened in this space.
Bungie would have likely wanted to keep the situation under wraps, but as Ekuegan has spoken with journalists and publically tweeted his innocence, it might just force their hand to investigate the leaks further. After all, you’re innocent until proven guilty.
