How to Get Bulbasaur in Pokémon Legends: Z-A—Bulbasaur Location, Explained

Pokémon Legends: Z-A has hundreds of Pokémon to add to your collection, including some of the most familiar faces in the franchise. If you’re on the hunt to add Bulbasaur to your ranks, we’ve got all the important details.

Legends: Z-A stars the return of Mega Evolution to the franchise, including introducing brand-new Mega Evolutions, which brings a host of fan-favorite Pokémon back into the mix—and Bulbasaur is among them.

Similar to other games, however, getting your hands on a Bulbasaur isn’t an easy endeavour, as Pokémon Legends: Z-A hands you a difficult decision and a load of grinding. We’ve explained it all in this guide.

Bulbasaur is available as a gifted Pokémon near the start of your journey in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, though you’ll need to make a tough decision to get your hands on it.

After getting to grips with Lumiose City and ticking off several of Mable’s Research Tasks, she invites you back to her office to make a crucial decision.

Once you arrive, you’ll soon see that Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle are waiting for you, which leads Mable to ask a question the community has been arguing about for three decades: Which Pokémon do you want to add to your collection?

Only one of the Kanto trio can be chosen, and your choice is Shiny Locked, but you can catch Shiny versions of the Pokémon later in the game. And, if you opt for a choice other than Bulbasaur, it can be caught later in the game.

Where to Catch Bulbasaur in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Bulbasaur can be caught in Wild Zone 20 in Lumiose City, a location that only becomes available deep into your progression into Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

This particular Wild Zone unlocks once you’ve ticked off Main Mission 38: The Future of Lumiose City—which is right at the end of the main story, and is, in fact, one of the bonus missions after the main campaign is completed.

Just like Legends: Arceus, completing the main story in Legends: Z-A is far from the end of your journey in the game, especially with the Mega Dimension DLC on the horizon, and Pokémon like Bulbasaur only become available to catch in the post-game.
