Escape from Tarkov 1.0 launched on Saturday, and Battlestate Games finally delivered the most important product in their company’s history. After ten years of development, the pioneering extraction shooter was officially a finished game – but some could beg to differ.
As the game hit the open market, including launching on Steam, issues started surfacing. Long load times, network instability, authentication problems, and more were hampering players from enjoying the 1.0 launch they’d waited so long to see. In a new post on social media, Battlestate Games’ Nikita Buyanov has openly apologized for these issues.
‘Actual Fans of the Game’
In his post on social media, Nikita Buyanov, the head of the studio at Battlestate Games, had plenty to say about the launch issues with Escape from Tarkov 1.0, and even more to promise about the fixes to come:
Thank you very much for this overwhelming interest for the game – servers get full really fast so we adding more and more servers worldwide to cut matching times more. We are also fixing all of the incoming bugs and as I said we will continue to improve and fix the game for the next months.
The release was rough for sure, sorry for that. But we are willing to continue fighting for everything good against bad. We will continue to provide to you, actual fans of the game, things that you will enjoy. We need to finally crack this performance problems, outdated stuff and legacy bugs which left. Yes, a lot of things were fixed in release version, but its not enough.
Many have commented on how Escape from Tarkov wasn’t ‘1.0 ready’, but to others, it represents the final product layered over the beta they’ve played for many years. It’s certainly upgraded and has plenty that sets it apart from the beta product, but it’s rough around the edges and lacking in certain areas – plus, Battlestate Games is still making changes even now.
Escape from Tarkov 1.0 adds a new map, faction, weapons, and a story that has multiple endings. It also incorporates several hundred fixes and tweaks, as well as existing map expansions and movement adjustments. It’s an overhaul, but not the best delivered one.
