Marvel Rivals continues to provide regular updates, and the next two characters in the release schedule have been unveiled, with Blade and Phoenix joining the roster soon.
The two fan-favorite characters have long been teased for an addition to Marvel Rivals, with players spotting a tease last month hinting towards Blade’s release, and their launches are rapidly approaching.
We’ve got all the details you need on Blade and Phoenix’s release in Marvel Rivals, including dates and leaked movesets.
When Are Blade & Phoenix Coming to Marvel Rivals?

Blade and Phoenix are both joining the Marvel Rivals roster in the next season, beginning July 11, but the exact release details for both heroes are different.
Phoenix, aka Jean Grey, is the first new character coming at the start of Season 3, available immediately upon the launch of the season on July 11. Meanwhile, Blade will arrive in the mid-season patch, Season 3.5, alongside a new competitive game mode.
Season 3 will be shorter than previous seasons, which had a three-month length, as seasons will now last for two months. With this timeframe, we expect Blade to be released in early August, around a month after Season 3 launches.
The new eight-week timeframe means Blade should arrive around August 8, though this date is not confirmed and is merely our estimate.
Phoenix Abilities & Leaks in Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals’ latest Dev Vision Vol. 7 video, ahead of the launch of Season 3, provided an overview of Phoenix’s abilities in the game, describing her as a “ranged Duelist wielding the overwhelming power of the Phoenix Force.”
Capable of fighting groups of enemies head-on or using agile mobility to cause opponents issues from the flanks, with a “unique chain reaction mechanic” that “delivers a whole new level of gameplay satisfaction.”
Phoenix’s Ultimate sees her merge with the Phoenix Force, dealing massive damage and harnessing a special ability that clears enemy summons from the battlefield.
According to leaks from MarvelRivals.GG, the two forms of Jean Grey/Phoenix will have different abilities. However, it doesn’t seem like the switch between forms will be like Cloak & Dagger or Bruce Banner’s transformation into the Hulk, instead only coming when her Ultimate ability is used.
| Human Form | Phoenix Form |
|---|---|
| Psychic Explosion | Phoenix Shadow |
| Telekinetic Explosion | Phoenix Ray |
| Telekinetic Transfer | Phoenix Punishment |
| Psychokinetic Transfer | Phoenix Wings Flying |
| Shattered Star Impact | Phoenix Elegy |
