Best Games Coming Out This Month—September 2025 New Games Guide

September is a busy month for new games, and there’s a little something for everyone. From sports games to massive first-person shooter titles, and from racing games to cinematic action titles, the best games coming out this month are diverse.

Below, you’ll find a list of the top titles to keep an eye open for this September. This list represents the most highly anticipated games coming out in September. Is the game you’re waiting for listed below? Check out the spread and let me know in the comments if I’ve missed something!

Top Games in September 2025

These are the games you don’t want to miss coming out this month (September 2025).

Hollow Knight: Silksong (September 4) – PC, Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series

Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally coming after years of development, with Team Cherry delivering this all-new experience to a (mostly) patient audience. As a direct sequel to 2017’s Hollow Knight, players will assume control of Hornet, a character players will remember from the first game. It’s a hugely ambitious sequel that should impress players the world over.

Borderlands 4 (September 12) – PS5, Xbox Series, PC

Borderlands 4 is the biggest and boldest game in the age-old series, and it’s set to blow the minds of fans of the franchise. Having played Borderlands 4 at Gamescom, I can attest to the quality of the game, which takes players to a seamless open world environment for the first time. It’s one hell of a looter-shooter, and it’s one of the best games of September 2025 with ease.

Skate Early Access (September 16) – PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC

More than a decade after the last Skate game emerged, Electronic Arts is pushing the new title, simply titled ‘Skate’ (but stylized as .skate), into early access. With a new open world and stacks of challenges and customization options, Skate serves as the next generation of the tried, tested, and beloved skateboarding series.

Dying Light: The Beast (September 19) – PS5, Xbox Series, PC

Dying Light: The Beast has been referred to by Techland as Dying Light 3, and it’s easy to see why. This incredible open-world zombie apocalypse title boasts stacks of improvements over the last game, and it sets up an entirely new story for players. This game welcomes back Kyle Crane, the protagonist of 2015’s Dying Light.

I previewed Dying Light: The Beast a while back, getting a solid look at the upcoming post-apocalyptic, parkour-fuelled action romp.

Silent Hill f (September 25) – PS5, Xbox Series, PC

Silent Hill f is the next major release in the legendary line of horror games. It’s set in 1960s Japan and gives players control of a high school student exploring a town shrouded in fog, which is a familiar setting for any Silent Hill fans. In Silent Hill f, every classic element of the series surfaces, and players are set to be chilled throughout.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (September 25) – PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC, Switch

This is a busy window for new games coming out in September, as Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds emerges right between a kick-ass horror game and a staple sports game. In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, players will pick from a massive roster of racers and take to iconic tracks against opponents in a game that resembles Mario Kart. In true Sonic Racing form, the race will change dynamically from land to sea to air.

EA Sports FC 26 (September 26) – PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC, Switch

The instantly recognizable soccer series returns this month with EA Sports FC 26, and regardless of what you think of it, it’s guaranteed to be one of the best games coming in September 2025 purely by sales figures alone. This iteration introduces fresh gameplay presents and a redesigned competitive mode that’ll fuse with FUT and Pro Clubs.
