Barotrauma is a 2D co-op submarine simulator set in space. It features survival horror and RPG elements, as players control the submarine, complete missions, face off against monsters, fix its issues, operate the machinery, man the guns, and craft new items to aid them on their journey.
You can play with up to 16 players on a submarine and even include bots in place of players for both single-player and multiplayer modes. There are six unique player classes, each with distinct skills and tasks. The game features a talent system that allows you to improve your character, as well as faction and reputation mechanics that can lead to rewards or consequences based on your alliances.
The world and missions are procedurally generated and feature various game modes. The game is highly mod-friendly, with built-in submarine, character, and procedural animation editors. Game data is exposed in .xml, and the game’s source code is publicly available on GitHub for modding.
