Baldur’s Gate 3 has enjoyed a remarkably successful launch period. From hitting a peak concurrent player count on Steam DB of 814,000 to peaking at half a million viewers on Twitch, this epic CRPG has proven its popularity time and again. It has broken records, surprised gamers the world over, and now, it’s the highest-rated game on Metacritic in 2023 – for now, at least.
It currently sits at the top of the table with a Metascore of 97, which places it above Tears of the Kingdom, Metroid Prime Remastered, Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter 6, and Diablo IV.
Are You Playing Baldur’s Gate?
Baldur’s Gate 3 has continued to stun fans since weeks before it was released. From reveals of bear fornication to the revelation that there are 17,000 possible endings to the game, it repeatedly blew the minds of prospective fans the world over. It was stated that there are 174 hours of cutscenes in this game alone, making it one of the most sizeable games to release in recent years.
On social media platforms, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to dominate, with players taking great pleasure in sharing their (sometimes bizarre) custom characters, their builds, and their experiences with the game.
It was said by Larian – the developer of Baldur’s Gate 3 – that there are currently no plans for any expansions for the game, but never say never, right?

I’ve had the game since ea began, didn’t play a lot, only finished act 1 once, but started a few to check out what the few characters there were, were like. And the change is remarkable, what they have done with the game is mind blowing. Def goty for me, hands down. If you played for years, you still wouldn’t see all possible outcomes. But I’m going to give it a damn good try. From the two characters I’m currently playing ( a solo run and a co op run with my mate ) they are such fun to play, the amount builds you can make is staggering, especially because of multi classing. I have a ninja monk class, and he’s so much fun to play. If you’re on the fence about getting, I suggest you jump the fence, knock it down and chuck it on the fire, do it! But….. if you have never played D&D before, it could be a steep learning curve, but once you figure it out, the fun will begin. And it is fun.
