The Asus ROG Ally handheld PC is officially launching on May 11.
The release date will coincide with a special launch event Asus is set to hold on the same day. That day will also be when the company plans on making the devive’s pricing known to consumers. However, an Asus rep told PC Gamer it would be below $1,000.
“I can tell you for sure that the price will be below $1,000,” the rep said. “200% it will be below $1,000.”
With the highest model of Steam Deck running $649, the question becomes just how far under $1,000 the Asus ROG Ally will fall. Will it be competitively priced against the Steam Deck, or will it be a couple of hundred dollars more expensive?
The Asus ROG Ally handheld features an AMD Ryzen Z1 CPU with AMD RDNA 3 graphics. It also includes a seven-inch 1080p display at 120Hz, up to 16GB of LPDDR5 memory, and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. As far as the display goes, it will have a 7ms response time as well as AMD FreeSync to help with any possible screen tearing issues.
Lastly, the handheld will come with three months of Game Pass Ultimate, per Asus.
