Ever since Ark: Survival Ascended released at the end of October, players have been frustrated about the state of the servers.
As it turns out, so is developer Studio Wildcard.
Speaking during the studio’s Extra Life charity stream, co-founder Jeremy Stieglitz talked about the game’s servers and didn’t hold back on his thoughts.
“The servers are ass,” Stieglitz said. “They run like ass. And their stability is ass. We need to improve it. It’s going to be improved imminently.”

He didn’t specify what “imminently” meant in this instance but seemed pretty gung-ho about having them taken care of sooner rather than later.
Ark: Survival Ascended, an Unreal Engine 5 remake of 2015’s Ark: Survival Evolved, is available now for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.
As of writing, the game has mixed reviews on Steam with just 58% being positive. A quick read through most of them point primarily to the game’s performance bugs and server issues as the main reasons for the lower ratings.
