Amazon’s Prime Video and Bethesda Game Studios have unveiled the Fallout Shelter reality show. It’s an all-new project coming soon to Prime Video, following in the footsteps of the wildly successful and popular Fallout series, based on the game franchise’s core universe. In recent news, a casting call went live, and in his guide, we’re going to tell you how to apply to be on Fallout Shelter.
The application process is open to anyone (with a few caveats), so applying is just a case of filling out a lengthy form and hoping for the best. If you want to secure a spot on the Fallout Shelter reality show and potentially be a contestant in the running for a large cash prize, read on to learn what you need to know.
Fallout Shelter Casting Call Application Details
If you want to take part in the Fallout Shelter reality show, potentially, you’ll need to head to the casting call website. Once there, you need to enter stacks of information, selling yourself to the casting crew and producers, and letting them know exactly why you would be worthy of a spot in the new (but fake) vault they’re building.
Here’s the need to know:
- You must be 21 years of age at the time of applying for the Fallout Shelter show
- You must hold a valid passport for the duration of filming
- Filming is set to last three weeks in June 2026, but dates might change
- You will need to be able to travel to ‘various locations’ for filming
If you’re selected to be on the show, you’ll need to sign waivers and non-disclosure agreements, so you need to be willing to stay quiet on the topic until the show is out! That’s especially true if you’re eliminated from the running early in the show’s production sprint. Don’t be a sore loser!
What Will Happen in the Fallout Shelter Show?
The Fallout Shelter reality show will plunge applicants into a recreation of a post-apocalyptic nuclear survival shelter known as a ‘vault’. In the Fallout universe, this was constructed by ‘Vault-Tec’ to hold survivors of the nuclear annihilation on the surface, with a twist.
Almost every vault was the staging ground for an experiment, often quite dark and morbid. While some experiments were immensely evil, others were hilarious or downright bizarre. We know about the subject matter of dozens of Fallout vaults, but it’s almost guaranteed that the challenges in the Fallout Shelter television series will be original creations, just to keep things fresh.
The dwellers (contestants) live together in a top-secret vault, where they will compete in a series of games that tests the seven core attributes from the Fallout world. Strength, perception, endurance, charisma, intelligence, agility and luck (S.P.E.C.I.A.L).
The series will not only test dwellers’ core attributes, but also their loyalty and alliances. It’s a game of power dynamics, popularity and social strategy which will ultimately result in a huge cash prize, but do you have what it takes to be the most S.P.E.C.I.A.L?.
Best Tips for Fallout Shelter Application
When you’re compiling your application for the Fallout Shelter reality show, you’ll want to be honest and transparent, but you’ll also need to sell yourself very well. You’ll be competing with thousands of applicants, all eager to get on the show and potentially win a huge cash prize (details TBC).
The opening section of the application asks you to describe yourself, talk about your family life, explain how your friends would describe you, and offer unexpected or random facts about you, among other things.
They’re likely not judging your skill for writing, so don’t worry about that. It’s just up to you to do the best job you can at applying.
One of the most important questions asks if you’re a fan of Fallout. If you’re not, you’re probably not going to be applying for the Fallout Shelter show, but it’s a good idea to be very thoughtful about this question.
Stress your love for Fallout; your passion for the post-apocalyptic franchise and all it entails. If you watched the television show, break down what you adore about it (or hate!), and if you’ve played the games, let them know how they make you feel. There might be special points awarded if you prove a little knowledge about Vault-Tec, the vault system, and the experiments that went on within.
That’s even more true when the game asks you what faction you identify with. The form gives examples:
- Enclave – a fragmented, twisted version of the US government with shady intentions
- NCR – a post-war military organization with visions of establishing a new government in the wake of the apocalypse
- Minutemen – survivors banding together to support settlements and help out their fellow man
- Followers of the Apocalypse – altruistic settlers of New Vegas looking to provide support and medical care on a humanitarian basis
Ultimately, you’ll have to hope for a bit of luck (the L in ‘SPECIAL’) to be on your side with your application. It’s not clear how many people will be picked, but it probably won’t be a huge number. We’d expect a few dozen, maximum.
