Anakin Skywalker Coming To Fortnite Ahead of Star Wars Day

Fortnite is gearing up for Star Wars Day in a big way with the addition of Anakin Skywalker to the Battle Royale’s roster next week.

The news was revealed on Fortnite’s official Twitter account which featured a first look at Anakin’s character model based on his appearance in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of The Sith. Republic Star Destroyers can be seen in the background and could have a part to play in the crossover. Anakin also seems to have two lightsabers, one is ignited while the classic Skywalker saber is holstered in his best. He’s previously opted to dual wield sabers in battle against Count Dooku but it’s far from his defining trait.

Players are encouraged to “join the experience beginning May 2nd”. This implies that Skywalker’s addition to the roster may kick off a plethora of new content for the game in the lead-up to Star Wars Day. Fortnite has already seen great success with previous Star Wars crossovers which added fan-favorite characters like Darth Vader, Kylo Ren, and the Mandalorian.

Its also been revealed that the current season of Fortnite will be ending a few days later than initially planned. Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2 has been one of the most substantial updates the game has seen. Along with the usual onslaught of new skins was a complete overhaul of the map and a crossover with Attack on Titan that allowed players to use ODM gear to traverse the world. The season was originally supposed to end on June 2nd but will now conclude on June 9th at 2am Eastern Time.

Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months with the release of Jedi: Survivor, new content in Fortnite and the live-action Ahsoka series.

Are you looking forward to playing as Anakin in Fortnite?
