Amazon’s Tomb Raider Announces Multiple Castings

Amazon has revealed a wave of new casting announcements for its upcoming live-action Tomb Raider series, expanding the roster around Sophie Turner, who was previously confirmed to play the iconic Lara Croft.

First launched in 1996, Tomb Raider has become one of gaming’s most recognisable franchises, spawning multiple film adaptations and animated projects over the years. Now, Amazon is preparing its own take on Lara Croft’s globe-trotting adventures, with casting details beginning to shed light on the shape of the series.

It was exclusively revealed on the Tomb Raider subreddit that eleven new cast members had joined the roster for Amazon’s upcoming Tomb Raider series. Not only have the actors been revealed, but so have who they will be playing.

Three cast members join as returning canon roles from the Tomb Raider video game franchise. These are:

The series will also introduce a host of original characters, including Sigourney Weaver as Evelyn Wallis, a powerful and enigmatic figure eager to exploit Lara’s abilities. Other additions include museum curators, government officials, rival raiders, and Lara’s personal pilot, helping to flesh out the wider world around the adventurer.

Turner described Lara Croft as a “fierce female role model,” while co-showrunner Phoebe Waller-Bridge praised the cast as a blend of fan favourites and exciting new additions. With production details still under wraps, the calibre of talent involved has only heightened anticipation for the series.
