THQ Nordic has revealed that Alone in the Dark, the reboot of sorts that features a solid cast has been pushed back yet again, this time to March 20, 2024. It was originally supposed to be released on October 25, 2023, but was pushed back to January 2024 – and now, it has suffered from another delay.
In a press release published by THQ Nordic, it was stressed that the development studio and publishing team want to avoid ‘any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays.’
In The Dark a While Longer
In the release written up by THQ Nordic, it was confirmed that should the game be keeping to its original (delayed) timeline, ‘the Christmas season would have been filled with stress and anything but a jolly time for them.’ For this scenario, ‘them’ refers to the development team.
Here’s an excerpt from the press release:
The well-being of the teams is a top priority, and both companies want to avoid any potential crunch over the Christmas holidays. Furthermore, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive want to ensure that the game not only meets but exceeds the expectations of the community, especially with the outstanding performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie as the main protagonists.
That’s David Harbour and Jodie Cromer, two of the top-tier talents fleshing out this survival horror title.
For those looking forward to the game, the new release date is now March 20, 2024, and it’ll be landing on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

WHAT? THIS MAKES NO SENSE? Why would there be crunch? They delayed the game the first time because they didn’t wanna compete with Spider-Man 2. But they also said the game was done, right? So how could there be crunch?!
