Upcoming horror extravaganza, Alone in the Dark, has been pushed back by three months to avoid the packed release schedule that’s coming up in the next few weeks. It was originally intended to be released in October, but THQ Nordic announced a delay today that’s designed to escape the shadow of the top-tier games releasing around that time, such as Spider-Man 2.
Featuring an all-star cast, Alone in the Dark is the first major game to be released in the series since 2008, and from what we’ve seen, it looks fantastic. Now, gamers eager to experience the game will need to wait a little longer, as the new release date has been confirmed as January 16th, 2024.
Alone and Waiting
It’s understandable, right? At the moment, millions of gamers are jumping into Starfield to experience the vast expanse of space and the worlds beyond. In a couple of weeks, it’ll be Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Forza Motorsport, Lords of the Fallen, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Total War: Pharaoh… And the list goes on.
It’s a tactical decision if nothing else, and it was broken down by THQ Nordic in a press release:
Our intention is to avoid competing with the wake of Alan’s epic release and to evade the dazzling skyline of cities adorned by the graceful swings of Spider-Man. We aim to truly remain as Alone in the Dark as possible. To honor this, the spine-chilling horror game has been rescheduled to unveil its horrors on January 16th, 2024.
In the statement published by THQ Nordic, it was also stressed that the delay will allow the development team to ‘meticulously perfect the gaming experience.’
