Alan Wake 2 Launch Trailer Released

The Alan Wake 2 launch trailer was released during the Xbox Partner Preview event on Wednesday.

In addition to a traditional trailer, developer Remedy Entertainment also gave players a new look at gameplay ahead of its release.

“What begins as a small-town murder investigation rapidly spirals into a nightmare journey. Uncover the source of the supernatural darkness in this psychological horror story filled with intense suspense and unexpected twists,” the game’s description reads.

In talking with Xbox Wire, principal narrative designer Molly Maloney talked about the fact that the game not only features Alan Wake, but a new character named Saga Anderson.

“She is a very critical foil to what’s going on with Alan,” Maloney said. “When you look at adding a new protagonist, you’re like, ‘Let’s make somebody who’s not like the protagonist we have.’ And she’s very much her own person, with her own motivations, her own sense of humour – she likes bad puns. She enjoys architecture.

“There’s all these different weird, interesting, throwaway things about her that show that she has a very well developed sense of self. I just think that that’s like a wonderful perspective to bring to the franchise.”

Alan Wake 2 is the sequel to 2010’s original Alan Wake that was released exclusively for the Xbox 360. The first game eventually came to more platforms with Alan Wake Remastered in 2021.

Alan Wake 2 launches on October 27 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. You can watch both trailers for yourself below.
