AEW Fight Forever Release Date Update: What’s The Latest?

Over the weekend, wrestling fans were surprised when it was found that Best Buy posted a new AEW Fight Forever release date. According to the store’s page for the game, it was now scheduled to release on Friday, March 31.

After talking to multiple sources, Insider Gaming has learned that the date is “most likely” just a placeholder. No firm release date has been set. One source even said that the PR teams for all involved parties haven’t been made aware of a release date. If it were set to be released in just over a month, parties would have been told by now.

It should also be noted that as of publishing, Best Buy is the only store selling the game that has March 31 listed as a release.

PAX East is the next big show on the docket that THQ Nordic is set to be a part of. However, it’s currently believed that AEW Fight Forever won’t be at the expo that runs from March 23-26. That’s not to say that some information won’t be announced, but the game itself isn’t likely to be available to see or play in any way on the show floor.

One person close to the game did say that the release plans could always change, but they would “be more than surprised” if a game was going to launch at that time but not be brought to a show happening a week prior. There is always the possibility of a shadow drop, but, again, marketing and PR teams are normally informed of those plans well in advance.

AEW Fight Forever is still scheduled to launch this year with all signs pointing to the first half of 2023. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

It was reported by Fightful’s Will Washington that AEW talent had recently filmed promotional content for the game. When that happens, it’s usually a signal that a launch is closing in.

Are you excited or anxious about the release date for AEW Fight Forever?

  • I have a pre order on Target website. Was just informed release date Dec 31st. I wouldn’t receive game until Jan 5th. How accurate is this new date? Then I read a possible March 31st release. Very confused.

  • I speak for a large margin of aew fans who are sick and tired of waiting for it. get the game finished already, there’s no excuse for how long it is taking at this point. we’ve been waiting for over two solid years for a release, a lot of stars are no longer going to be optional because they are no longer with the company.

  • I’m sick of waiting it’s stupid now and a lot of people are not going to care anymore. I have wwe2k22 and unlocked an Aew universe they need to get it together or it’s going to flop
