Ubisoft has revealed that in a free update dropping in December, Assassin’s Creed Mirage players will get all-new mechanics in the form of New Game+ and ‘Permadeath Mode’. The former feature is something that fans have been calling out for since the game was released on October 5th, and the addition of ‘Permadeath’ is a sweetener for the players who want a more hardcore challenge.
Run It Back
These days, New Game+ (NG+) is almost a staple for single-player titles. It allows players to ‘run it back’, replaying the game from the start but retaining everything they unlocked during their first, full playthrough. That means that AC Mirage fans will be rebooting their adventure as Basim but they’ll be fully skilled out and wielding some of the best weapons and armour sets in the game.
If that wasn’t enough, the most skilled players will be able to try their luck with Permadeath Mode. It does what it says on the tin – in Permadeath Mode, when you succumb to your enemies’ overwhelming might, that’s it. Game over. It doesn’t matter if you’re ten minutes or ten hours into the story.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is widely considered to be a return to form for the franchise, offering up a shorter, smaller story set in a single, dense city. It has a bigger focus on stealth, it’s authentic when compared to the games that came before, and it broadens the franchise’s lore remarkably well, despite not having any ‘modern day’ elements whatsoever.
