How to Save in Mina the Hollower—Does it Have Autosave?

The save system in Mina the Hollower feels deliberately obtuse, in keeping with that classic adventure sense of mystery. If you’re struggling to understand how your progress is saved and tracked, we’ve got everything you need to know.

Games are so much easier when there’s a simple save button or in-game icon you immediately recognize and breathe a huge sigh of relief when you see. I can’t tell you how many times I spied the crystal question marks in Final Fantasy 7 and jumped for joy to my own internal victory fanfare music.

Mina the Hollower isn’t quite as obvious, so let’s run you through the game’s save mechanics.

Can You Manually Save in Mina the Hollower?

The only way to manually save in Mina the Hollower is by walking over specific burrow holes found around the world, and doing so will trigger a quick audio cue, signifying that you’ve saved the game.

Mina loves to burrow.

So much so that various points around the Tenebrous Isle have specific burrow holes which take you into Mina’s home / base of operations.

The best way to describe them is beige squares with a sort of diagonal star pattern on them. They shine and look like they have fire emanating from the top—don’t worry, they’re quite safe!

Does Mina the Hollower Autosave?

Yes, certain actions, such as advancing the story or completing areas, will trigger mini autosaves, meaning you don’t have to worry about losing significant progress.

Think of Mina the Hollower like a typical Soulslike game. We’d all love it if we could save our progress in Elden Ring, maybe experiment with our next player levels, or not have to commit to spending all resources on weapon and armor upgrades.

However, FromSoftware is a big fan of continuous autosaves, which at the very least means you don’t really have to worry about losing progress—just Souls, Spirits, pride, and patience.

Mina is much the same, and so if you can’t find a burrow hole to manually save, you can rely on the in-game save system to do it for you.
