Call of Duty says there will be no BS and no silly skins in the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 video game.
With the popularity of games like Fortnite, which enable cartoony crossovers and outlandish skins, Call of Duty has followed suit. Partnerships with IPs such as WWE and Beavis and Butthead have brought similar silliness at the expense of the tense nature of CoD stories and gameplay. That appears to be changing, however.
Call of Duty recently revealed the trailer for the upcoming Modern Warfare 4, which will release in October 2026. On social media, the team behind the game stated that they’ve heard the feedback and that this next game will feature no BS or ridiculous skins. The experience will be all about staying true to the intense nature of Modern Warfare.
This next Call of Duty is important for multiple reasons. It is the first Call of Duty game on a Nintendo platform in quite a while. Also, it will not be available for PS4 or Xbox One. To that point, support for Call of Duty: Warzone, the Battle Royale mode in the Call of Duty franchise, will end on those platforms as well. Learn more here.
This next Call of Duty game will also not be released on day one on XBOX Game Pass. The XBOX brand is also undergoing many changes that involve listening to its audience. Learn more here.
