A fresh Fortnite update has been deployed by Epic Games, headlined by Save The World becoming free-to-play, and a new free skin styled on Jess is available for a limited time.
Fortnite‘s move to bring Save The World into a free-to-play model on April 16 comes alongside the removal of two other modes, Ballistic and Festival Battle Stage, and Epic Games is heavily promoting the change.
Alongside a crossover with the main Battle Royale mode, Fortnite is offering a free Jess skin for players, and Insider Gaming has the details on how to claim it.
How to Get Free Jess Skin in Fortnite

The Jess skin in Fortnite is earned for free by earning 350,000 XP in the Save the World mode, following the move to free-to-play on April 16, 2026.
Fortnite’s Save The World and Battle Royale modes are colliding following the free-to-play move, with crossover quests that provide Battle Pass XP. This also unlocks new weapons, including the Super Shredder Schematic in Save the World.

Additionally, the Jess skin is available for free once 350,000 XP is earned in Save the World during the crossover, but there is a limited time to secure your reward.
The Jess skin in Save The World is only available to earn for free during the crossover period, which is set to end on June 5. This is also the current launch date for Chapter 7, Season 3 in Fortnite.
Can You Buy The Jess Skin in Fortnite?
No, the Jess Save The World skin is not available for purchase in Fortnite, and is only available as a free reward in the game.
However, Fortnite’s changes to skin exclusivity mean that the Jess skin could return to the Item Shop as a purchase option later down the line.

Fortnite changed Battle Pass exclusivity in August 2024, meaning that items in Battle Passes might be offered for purchase after 18 months or more from the Battle Pass’s expiration.
While the same rules don’t necessarily apply for free rewards, like the Jess skin, it does show that the doors are open for a potential return in the future. However, it’s worth ticking off the requirements and claiming the skin while it’s available for free.
