Major Legend of Zelda Remake Coming This Year, It’s Claimed

The Legend of Zelda is set to get a remake from Nintendo. At least, that’s according to known Nintendo insider NateTheHate.

In his latest podcast, NateTheHate spoke about what he’s heard regarding Nintendo’s upcoming plans for the Switch 2. Not only did he mention that he’s heard a Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition was coming this year, but a “major” remake from the The Legend of Zelda franchise is coming to the platform.

What game, you ask? One of the best video games of all-time: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

“[T]here is another anniversary this year, and it’s the anniversary of The Legend of Zelda… what I can share with you today is that in the second half of 2026, approaching the holidays, we are going to receive an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2,” he said.

Released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64, Ocarina of Time is highly regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time. Upon its release, the game received nearly perfect scores across the board from outlets and players.

A remake for the Switch 2 wouldn’t be the first time this game got the special treatment. Back in 2011, Ocarina of Time 3D was released for the Nintendo 3DS handheld. This would, however, be the first console remake of the game.

As of now, it’s unclear if this will truly be a full remake or a modern-day remaster of Ocarina of Time. They claim it’ll be a remake instead of an HD remaster, but until it’s announced, you can’t be certain. Nintendo is expected to reveal it sometime this summer, possibly during a Nintendo Direct that NateTheHate says is coming in June.

  • That’s great. Nintendo should do the same for Star Fox Adventures, F-Zero GX, Pokémon Emerald old art style, Pokémon Coliseum, Pokémon DX, 3D Mario, Pokémon Yellow, Donkey Kong 64, all of those.
