League of Legends Major Arena Update and Season 2 Theme Leak

League of Legends is preparing a huge Arena update and a Demon theme for Season 2 of 2026, according to what appears to be an accidental leak from Gamescom.

Riot Games has been confirmed to be attending the Gamescom LATAM event in Brazil, and an Instagram post announcing this has also given LoL fans an early glimpse into what is coming up for the MOBA.

The official post from Gamescom LATAM, when translated, says: “And of course, League of Legends will also be present with the major update to Arena mode, bringing new maps, systems, and skins inspired by the demons of Runeterra.”

The skin release of each season typically revolves around its lore theme, seemingly confirming next season’s focus. There may still be a bit of a wait for this update though, as Season 2 didn’t start until April 30th last year.

League of Legends Season 2 Will Be Themed Around Demons

Like last year, Riot is pushing three themed seasons in League of Legends this year, which will change the cosmetics of Summoner’s Rift and affect the lore in an ongoing story that will run throughout the year.

So far, 2026 has seen a Demacia theme headlined by the upcoming Shyvana VGU rework and the city-building minigame Demacia Rising in the LoL client.

Demons is an intriguing theme for a season, and fan theories are already running wild on what it might entail.

The League of Legends wiki has four champions labelled as demons: Evelynn, Fiddlesticks, Nocturne, and Tahm Kench.

After the ‘Salvation’ cinematic earlier this year showed Sona fighting off shadowy creatures in a forest, Nocturne feels a safe bet for one of the stars of next season.

It has also been confirmed that we’re getting a new LoL champion in Season 2. Perhaps they’ll be a demon or rather someone who battles them.

League of Legends Arena Gets Major Update

The Arena game mode is apparently getting a major rehaul soon, and it’s probably needed.

Arena has fallen in popularity after the huge success of ARAM Mayhem, which essentially added Arena augments into the ‘All Random All Mid’ mode.

ARAM Mayhem was supposed to leave LoL at the end of 2025, but it seems to have become a permanent fixture after the LoL fan base craved more.

This seeming leak tells us that Arena is seemingly getting new maps and gameplay systems to refresh the mode. Arena hasn’t received a new map since March last year, when the Reckoner Arena was added with destructible pillars you can knock over onto opponents.

After Mayhem received Teamfight Tactics- style Augment sets, which reward players with bonus abilities for collecting multiple augments from within a set.
