The United West Team has released an all-new trailer for Fallout: The New West, showcasing the first demo and preview for the game-sized mod of the same name. This ambitious mod is attempting to rebuild Fallout: Van Buren, the cancelled ‘original Fallout 3’ that would have surfaced before Bethesda Game Studios acquired the IP.
In the trailer, we see three minutes of gameplay from the ‘alternate start’ demo, which gives players a taste of things to come in Fallout: The New West.
What is Fallout: The New West?
Fallout: The New West is an ambitious, fan-backed project to rebuild the Van Buren game that never saw the light of day. It was in development many years ago, but never surfaced, which is something the United West Team wants to rectify.
The mod has been in development for several years, but it was only last month that the team published the first trailer, fully unveiling everything the mod aspires to be.
It’s a total conversion project for Fallout: New Vegas, and it already looks remarkably polished, if the new trailer is anything to go by:
In the description under the video, the United West Team revealed what to expect from the ‘Tibbets Alternate Start’ mod:
An alternate start demo for Fallout: New Vegas set within Tibbets Prison An optional, never-before-seen player background designed to expand roleplaying opportunities Serves as an introduction and preview of our remake of Van Buren, Fallout: The New West Showcases new characters and developing plotlines from the larger project Introduces new gear and traits tailored to the alternate start experience Includes a fully featured and polished custom intro movie for the game.
Fallout fans were quick to jump on The New West when the first trailer appeared online around a month ago. If there’s one thing the average Fallout fan loves, it’s a bit of lore, and potentially exploring the recreation of an almost forgotten project in the series is a prospect that’s just all too exciting.
In lieu of the Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters, concepts like this are all too enticing. For now, you can download the mod on Nexus.
