That’s the question on everybody’s mind, and Bungie are being deliberately vague about its arrival. Whilst Ranked won’t be available in Marathon at launch, it’s definitely coming, and it might be sooner than most think.

When Is Ranked Coming To Marathon?
Bungie hasn’t shared an exact release date for when Ranked will be playable in Marathon, but it’s been confirmed to arrive in the ‘second half of March.’
Considering that Marathon releases on March 5, it might be fair to assume that Ranked will arrive roughly two weeks after launch. Conceptually, that would make sense, as it should give the general player base enough time to get their Vaults stacked full of gear, all before they lose it all during competitive Ranked Runs—but that’s all part of the fun!

However, that date could change at any time, and Bungie has clarified that more information will be shared closer to its release date. Until then, you’ll have to speculate about when it will arrive, as well as what the Ranked mode will even entail…
What Is Ranked In Marathon?
Bungie aren’t just being vague when it comes to the Ranked mode release date, as details pertaining to the upcoming Marathon mode are equally sparse.
As things stand, all that’s been mentioned is that Runners will need to extract with valuable loot in order to climb the Ranked ladder. It’s theorised that the more you extract with, the more points you’ll earn, thus improving your Rank in the long term.

However, how many Ranks there will be, as well as how the points system will be tracked, remains to be seen. Even the rewards are a mystery, as all that’s known is that they’ll be ‘exclusive.’ It’ll most likely be cosmetics for your gear, but who knows, maybe there’s tangible rewards up for grabs too—you’ll just have to wait and see.
