As part of the Pokémon Presents showcase on Pokémon Day, it was revealed that Pokémon Champions will be released in April 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, with a mobile launch coming later this year.
The release of Pokémon Champions marks a major shift for competitive play in the Pokémon franchise, which, until the release of the game, was competed on the most recent mainline versions of the game.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is now heading into the sunset, with a new generation for the franchise on the horizon, but the VGC aspect of Esports competition will now be competed on Pokémon Champions.
