For fans of extraction shooters, Marathon can’t come soon enough. Thankfully, they won’t have to wait much longer—or even buy the game—as the Marathon Server Slam Playtest is on the horizon.
Bungie is hosting an open preview weekend for its upcoming title, and you can easily get involved. There’s tons of content planned for the event, and if you’re interested, you won’t want to miss it.
From the exact release times and available platforms to what content you can expect, Insider Gaming has all the information you could need for the upcoming Marathon Server Slam Playtest.
When Is The Marathon Server Slam Playtest?

The Marathon Server Slam Playtest will begin on February 26, 2026, and end on March 2, 2026.
The full game is set to release on March 5, just three days after the Server Slam Playtest. It’s geared to help stress test the servers before the official release, and it’ll be a great time to decide whether you want to complete a full purchase of the game or not.
Thankfully, the open preview weekend will run for a few days, but it’ll run under some strict timings.
Marathon Server Slam Playtest Exact Times
The Marathon Server Slam Playtest is expected to go live at precisely 10 AM PT on February 26 and end at the exact same time on March 2.
It’s a very tidy window for fans to jump into Marathon, but if you’re from a different time zone, don’t worry, as Insider Gaming has adjusted the timings in the table below:
| Region | Marathon Server Slam Playtest Release Times |
|---|---|
| Pacific Time (PT) | 10:00 AM—February 26 |
| Central Time (CT) | 12:00 AM—February 26 |
| Eastern Time (ET) | 1:00 PM—February 26 |
| Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) | 6:00 PM—February 26 |
| Australian Eastern Time (AET) | 5:00 AM—February 27 |
| New Zealand Daylight Time (NZDT) | 7:00 AM—February 27 |
What Platforms Will The Marathon Server Slam Playtest Be On?
The Marathon Server Slam Playtest will be playable on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
It’s bad news for last-gen console owners, as Marathon will be exclusive to the current-gen systems. Perhaps more surprisingly, though, is that Marathon will be playable on Xbox platforms, despite PlayStation owning Bungie, the developers behind the upcoming Extraction Shooter.
What Content Will Be Available During The Marathon Server Slam Playtest?

There’s plenty of content to jump into during the Marathon Server Slam Playtest, as it’s intended to be enough to familiarise yourself with the gameplay ahead of the full release.
During the Server Slam, you’ll be able to do the following:
- Explore two maps, Perimeter and Dire Marsh
- Take on the opening contracts for five of Marathon’s factions
- Try out all six Runner Shells, plus Rook in scavenger mode
- Play solo or with a crew, with Proximity Chat fully incorporated
More details are bound to be revealed, and once they are, Insider Gaming will be sure to update this article with every piece of information you could need.
