YAPYAP has plenty to digest and discover, which can be daunting if you’re just getting started, as guidance is minimal, so a guide with tips and tricks is extremely valuable.
There are all sorts of things to discover, including a wealth of Wands and Spells, but it’s always important to remember the core mechanics of causing as much Chaos as possible, safely extracting, and avoiding the dangerous monsters in the process.
For a detailed guide on YAPYAP with tips and tricks to succeed in the game, Insider Gaming has a definitive breakdown to help.
Best YAPYAP Tips & Tricks

Sell Everything Early
Gold is a crucial currency in YAPYAP to unlock better Wands and add more Spells to your arsenal, and while completing runs provides gold as a reward, it’s unlikely to be enough on its own to push you towards the stuff you want to buy.
Thankfully, there’s a way to get a bunch of Gold relatively early on, simply by selling the things the game provides. After you complete all three nights and your first run, the Potions Room opens, which is filled with a few starter potions you can use, alongside materials for brewing your own potions, but the best option is to sell them all.
Pick them up and take them to the Shop, selling each individually, to build up a stack of Gold. It’s always good to have some in reserve in case you are killed, so do the grind as early as you can.
Look at The Grimoire For Secret Spells
Holding right-click with any Wand equipped displays the majority of the Spells you can use, but not all of them, as there are some Secret Spells to discover.
Before loading into a night, head inside the house in the lobby, and go up the stairs. On the left-hand side, there’s a Grimoire book that displays hints towards the Secret Spells, telling you what needs to be said and showcasing an image of what the Spell does, although you’ll have to try it out yourself to see the full effects.
Any time you get your hands on a new Wand, return to the Grimoire to find out what new Secret Spells are available.
Keep Wind of Wands
Wind of Wands is the most basic Wand you can get your hands on in YAPYAP, but it should remain in your arsenal long-term, as the cooldowns are very low and it’s a quick way to raise your Chaos level and cause destruction.
Aero is a quick way to deal damage to a wider area of targets, with Tempest coming in handy too, and the Up-Dog spell can help you get to hard-to-reach places and can provide a quick escape from danger, should you encounter it.
While it won’t be the most devastating tool in your arsenal, it’s always worth having to hand.
Different Roles in Co-Op
If you’re playing YAPYAP alongside other players, issue roles for your squad to fulfil for better efficiency, and to make sure you have the balance to cause the required Chaos and survive the nights.
At a minimum, one player should focus on destruction, another should focus on healing, and one player should focus on fighting the monsters that appear. If you’re playing with a full squad of five, you can double-up on some of these roles, or add further tools to your arsenal.
Remember that all Gold is shared in a squad, so you need to manage your purchases efficiently to get your full squad geared up.
Stealth Approach in Single Player
While YAPYAP is geared towards playing with friends, it’s still fun playing on your own, but you should definitely take a stealthier approach.
First and foremost, focus on causing destruction and raising Chaos, as this is the main target to achieve, but avoid all enemy monsters whenever you can. If you do get into a fight, have a Wand in your arsenal that can help you get away, either providing a speed boost with the Wand of Fire and Ignis Legs, or turning a monster into a fish with the Fish-Yuk spell with the Grotesque wand. If you choose the latter, you can pick up the fish that are created and throw them off the map.
Tread carefully when you’re on your own, and avoid any fights you can.
