Nintendo Reveals Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream Release Date

Nintendo has announced the release date for Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.

Nintendo held a special Direct on January 29 covering the upcoming Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream game.

Tomodachi Life is one of the last games announced for the original Nintendo Switch before its successor, the fast-selling Nintendo Switch 2. The Direct presentation covered the day-to-day interactions Mii characters will have in the game, the shops they will visit, the news station, the ability to create pets, lattes, and more.

The presentation also showcased that players can create items for their island and experience the real-life joys of heartbreak.

The presentation announced that the game would be released on April 16, 2026, for the entire Nintendo Switch family of consoles.

History of the Tomodachi Life Series

The first Tomodachi Life game was released on the Nintendo 3DS in 2014. The series follows the day-to-day interactions of Mii characters, once a staple of Nintendo branding. It was a sequel to a game that was exclusive to Japan.

The first game sold over 6 million copies worldwide and became the 11th best-selling Nintendo 3DS game of all time. Now, over a decade later, its sequel is one of the final Nintendo games made for the original Nintendo Switch.

Insider Gaming will continue to monitor all things Tomodachi Life as the game nears closer to release.
