How to Get Free Fortnite Rust Bucket Back Bling, Explained

Fortnite has a wealth of rare cosmetic items that have not been available to players for a long time, and the Rust Bucket Back Bling is among them, though it’s finally available for the first time in seven years.

There are some caveats to the availability of the Rust Bucket Back Bling, however, and the majority of players are likely to still be unable to get their hands on the item. Insider Gaming has all of the details.

The Rust Bucket Back Bling is available in Fortnite as a reward for participating in the NVIDIA Cup on December 21/22 and securing at least eight points.

The precise date and times of the tournament depend on your region, as the Nvidia GeForce RTX Cup is available across all regions, providing players with opportunities to earn rewards. However, there are some notable restrictions.

Firstly, the Nvidia GeForce RTX Cup is a Solos tournament, so you can’t bring your friends along for the ride, and you’ll need to have played in at least 14 tournaments in the last 180 days to be able to enter. Unfortunately, that means you can’t dive in to try to win the Rust Bucket Back Bling if this is your first tournament.

If you meet all the requirements, the Rust Bucket Back Bling is distributed as a reward to all players who receive at least eight points during the tournament, and there are other prizes available, including an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 GPU for the top competitors.

Can You Buy The Fortnite Rust Bucket Back Bling?

No, the Rust Bucket Back Bling cannot be purchased in the Item Shop, and participating in the NVIDIA tournament is currently the only way to obtain the reward.

While the cosmetic was first introduced in the Shop way back in Season 3 in 2018, where it was available for six separate days, it has not returned to the Item Shop since, and is likely to remain unavailable for the foreseeable future.

It could be available again as a tournament reward, given the approach in the NVIDIA Cup, but that’s just speculation for the time being.
